Tryon's Notes

Tryon – Date: September 7, 1935

Location: Temple Ruins, Oaxaca, Mexico

Notes on Today’s Events:
1. The Rings – Bad Idea, But Interesting
Eliza put on all five rings. Temple shook like an angry landlord. She had a vision—bloody priests, human sacrifices, big nasty worm, priests jump in, worm gets sealed. Rings clearly tied to the temple’s integrity. She pocketed one. Might come back to bite us later.

2. Reanimated Guard – Not a Good Look
Terri patched up James. We put She Who Watches on a plinth. Pit started stinking of rot. I checked it out. Lantern down—saw movement.

Then, that guard Terri threw in? Climbed back out. Shouldn’t have been possible. Twisted limbs, dead eyes, carrying a head. Not just any head—Van Dyne Sr.

James shot. Missed. Eliza went for fire. Good instincts. Creature locked eyes on me. Room started looking…wrong. Angles shifting, like a kaleidoscope from hell. Terri started chanting. Big flash. Temple shook again.

3. Dennis – Not As Dead As We’d Like
Eliza toyed with the rings again. Temple reacted. Bad sign.

Fight got worse. I cracked my whip, knocked the creature off balance. James went in, froze under that damn head’s gaze. Creature lurched for Dennis’ body.

Eliza used her mind tricks, got a rope on the head. Separated it from the body, but too late—Dennis gasped back to life.

Not ideal.

4. Julia, the Portal, and Navarro’s Cameo
Tryon’s Rule #14: When a teammate bolts for a shimmering, reality-warping wall, probably a bad sign.

Julia ran. Saw Navarro on the other side. She went through. Dropped something.

Navarro was helping her? Why? Need to find out.

5. Dennis’ Last Stand (Sort Of)
Dennis talked to the head. Whispered. Then—throws it at James. I intercepted, but Dennis grabbed something Julia left behind.

Eliza yanked at it with her telekinesis. Dennis fought back. That thing in the pit? Started waking up.

I kicked the head into the pit. It got eaten.

James shot Dennis. Good hit. Dennis dropped the statue. Eliza, still yanking, pulled it midair. Bolted to the plinth.

Tryon’s Rule #3: When a teammate makes a play, cover them. I torched the creature and knocked it into the pit. Temple lit up like a lighthouse.

Something massive stirred. We got the job done, but at what cost?

6. Rituals and Sacrifices – Never a Good Time
Navarro reappeared. Grabbed He Who Sleeps’ remains. Said a sacrifice was needed.

James touched the plinth. Looked weak. Not enough.

I joined. Still not enough.

Eliza had rings. Put one on me, one on James, two on herself. Power surged.

Still not enough.

Then William Stone—Hollywood’s finest—steps up. Takes a ring. Joins in.

Everything exploded. Navarro, the locals—gone. The statue whole again.

7. Aftermath & Loose Ends

  • Pit is empty. No Navarro. No worm. No portal.
  • Rings vanished. Same with Navarro. Coincidence? No.
  • Film crew saw too much. Will be a problem.
  • Dennis’ soldiers—captured. Locals took care of it.
  • Navarro’s apprentice – shady kid. Took an amulet from Eliza. Tried to take more. I played dumb.
  • Terri & Julia – hospitalized. Terri in worse shape. We flew to Mexico City to help.
  • Nora Van Dyne—gone. Checked out. Vanished. Will resurface. Bet on it.
  • William Stone – covering our expenses. Unexpected.
  • James got his interview. No surprises there.
  • Eliza messing with new tech. Bag of infinite holding? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

Final Thought:
Something’s off. The temple’s sealed, but this doesn’t feel over. Loose threads. Unanswered questions.

I’m heading home. Got to put some distance between myself and all this. But if this thing isn’t over?

I’ll be ready.
